Suggested order to start and stop BlackBerry Enterprise Server services
Overview
Important: Restarting the BlackBerry® Controller or BlackBerry Dispatcher delays email message delivery to BlackBerry® smartphones. For information on delays in email message delivery when BlackBerry® Enterprise Server services are restarted, see KB04789 .
The suggested order to start the BlackBerry Enterprise Server services is detailed below:
BlackBerry Router
BlackBerry Dispatcher
BlackBerry Controller
All remaining BlackBerry Enterprise Server services
Note: The IBM® Lotus® Domino® Server and BlackBerry Messaging Agent will start automatically when the BlackBerry Controller is started.
The following is the suggested order in which to stop the BlackBerry Enterprise Server services:
BlackBerry Controller
BlackBerry Dispatcher
BlackBerry Router
All remaining BlackBerry Enterprise Server services
Note: The IBM Lotus Domino Server can be shutdown once the BlackBerry Controller is stopped.
Note: The BlackBerry Enterprise Server services can be started or stopped by clicking Administrative Tools > Services from the Start menu.
The BlackBerry services should be stopped or started in the specified order above to reduce the number of errors that appear in the Windows® Event Viewer Application Log.
Additional Information
When stopping and starting the BlackBerry Controller service on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0 and later, the BlackBerry Mail Store Service, BlackBerry Policy Service, and BlackBerry Synchronization Service are also automatically stopped or started.
The order of starting/stopping services presented here is a guideline. If services are started/stopped in a different order the BlackBerry Enterprise Server will still function.
